There was one time I was at the store he used to work at, and he asked me what I was doing later, but what he said didn’t register. So I immediately responded with “working.” Then I realized what he had just asked, so I asked him why he was asking because if he would’ve asked if I wanted to do something, I would’ve totally skipped out on work. I was a ride-share driver back then, I didn’t have to work, I could’ve taken the night off… But when I asked why, he smiled and shook his head. I’ll never know why he asked me that. Did he want to hang out with me or was he just making small talk? I’ll never know because he wouldn’t tell me.
The one thing I can tell you from my personal life experience is: getting rejected is better than not asking and wondering what if for the rest of your life.
