Had some “fun” on the water the other day.
by fun I mean boat training for a couple local families learning how to tactically drive a boat.
While knowing how to drive a boat is simple, once you learn the basic and some “advanced” skills, the only thing different from you and a professional is time behind the wheel! We went over man-overboard skills and ways to prevent it as well as how to safely recover someone and what to do next- emergency response, medical, etc.
But MAN was I tired after all that time on the water!

"Everyday carry”
Often abbreviated as EDC, refers to the essential items an individual deems necessary to have on their person daily, ensuring they're equipped for both the expected and unexpected events of day-to-day life. This concept goes beyond just keys, wallet, and phone. For many, it can include a multitool, flashlight, notebook, pen, or even a pocket knife. The specifics of one's EDC are deeply personal, tailored to individual needs, professions, and lifestyles. What’s in your everyday carry?

Today was all about lending a hand as I helped a friend move into his new apartment. It got me thinking – just like in life, a watchful mindset is key. Amid the hustle and bustle, it's easy to get caught up in the small details, but it's the bigger picture that truly matters. As we lifted boxes and set up furniture, I couldn't help but appreciate the importance of staying present and focused, both in helping a friend and navigating our own paths. So, here's a reminder: don't let the little things overwhelm you. Instead, keep that watchful mindset, tackle challenges head-on, and remember, it's the journey that counts. 💪🏠

Two-a-day sessions of Jiu-Jitsu and weightlifting are taking the toll on my body, but it's the ultimate discipline grind. The fusion of physical prowess and technical finesse is a true test of your limits. Yet, we can not overlook the vital role of sleep in this journey. While the pursuit of excellence drives us, we must acknowledge that quality rest is the foundation of recovery and progress. Lately, I've been grappling with a sleep deficit, a reminder of the fine balance between pushing boundaries and respecting the body's need for rejuvenation. It's a valuable lesson – our dedication to improvement must encompass both training intensity and ample rest, to ensure we keep evolving, both on the mats and under the barbell. Here's to optimizing our potential by cherishing the power of sleep! Be better than me and get good sleep!

Let’s talk about my absolute favorite topic.
Guns!
No not biceps… I’m talking 9MM, 5.56, and 7.62!
Here I’ve got the SCAR-H. If you’ve played call of duty you’re familiar with this firearm.
The SCAR-H stands out as an exceptional assault rifle, praised for its outstanding performance in the field. It’s, renowned for its reliability and durability, this battle-tested beast is a top choice among military personnel and firearm enthusiasts, like myself alike.
It’s gas-operated & rescued recoil, the SCAR-H has incredible accuracy, which allows users to stay precise in high stress situations. Its modular design empowers shooters to tailor the rifle to their liking, creating a personalized weapon that complements their style and mission needs.
This is the SCAR-H 17S, which takes 7.62x51mm NATO rounds which are pretty large rounds for the regular population. This round is gonna go through most walls, doors, glass, cinderblocks, car doors…. Pretty much anything that’s not specifically made to prevent a 7.62 round. Moreover, the Picatinny rail system permits the attachment of a wide array of tactical accessories, elevating the SCAR-H's adaptability and versatility.
I’ve got a bipod, ACOG scope, laser and sling on this bad boy..
Overall, the SCAR-H's exceptional performance, rugged build, and customizable features make it an extraordinary assault rifle that delivers results when it matters most. It's a true force to be reckoned with, cementing its place as one of the best in the business.

At the gym the other day, a guy came up to me asking how much I workout. Slightly annoyed because I literally was in the middle of my set ( don't do that, wait till someones finished to talk) I told him my training regiment. I train daily no matter what. Most days will be weightlifting and Jiu-jitsu, and my "rest" days will be an active rest day of cardio, abs, and Muay Thai. He said I must not have time to do anything else. To which I explained that I'm extremely busy but that I'm busy with things bettering my life and adding value. I plan out the next day the night before, and am getting things done nonstop. I start work early in the morning, knock out things before breakfast, then head to hit the weights and run errands. Afterward and through lunch, I'm knocking out more emails and working on the computer while doing things around the house, laundry, dishes, and messing with my gear.
He said he never would have time to do everything and train twice a day. I replied back that without making time, you'll never change. It was a moment of realization for both of us.
Lesson learned: In the pursuit of our goals, it's crucial to prioritize our health and fitness. Making time for ourselves is essential for personal growth and achieving what we desire. We all have busy lives, but dedicating even a little time each day to fitness can make a world of difference. Your health is an investment – one that yields lifelong rewards. So, let's take charge, set our priorities straight, and embrace the journey towards a healthier and stronger version of ourselves.

Finally finished traveling! Thankful for TSA PREcheck. Highly recommend.
You don’t have to remove shoes, belt, and jackets.
You also don’t have to remove laptop or some small quantity liquids. I wouldn’t have made my flight if I Didn’t have it!
I don’t like large groups of people that much, or at least I’m very aware of my surroundings when I am traveling.
It pays to be prepared!

Let's touch back on "health services" because I got a lot of questions in my messages about it. "Health" never gets talked about enough, but it's paramount if you want to stay in the fight. Specifically, the Individual First Aid Kit, or IFAK. It's a tool that comes straight out of the military field, a tool designed for those who are ready to face adversity and deal with the immediate aftermath.
The world is a battlefield. Sometimes, it's a physical battlefield with danger and threats you can see, other times, it's an internal struggle, a fight against your weaknesses. But no matter what battlefield you're on, you need to be prepared. The IFAK is one piece of gear that's not just for combat veterans or police officers but for anyone who takes their safety seriously.
The purpose of an IFAK is simple but essential: it's about immediate response. It's about addressing those injuries that can turn a tough soldier into a casualty in minutes. The essentials in an IFAK? Hemorrhage control, airway management, and addressing chest wounds.
A tourniquet is your first line of defense against severe fluid loss. In the heat of battle, it can be the difference between survival and becoming a statistic. Your IFAK should always have one, maybe two, ready to deploy.
Next, the chest seal. A penetrating chest wound can cause what we call a tension pneumothorax, a life-threatening condition. A chest seal in your IFAK can buy the time you need until medical help arrives.
An NPA, or nasopharyngeal airway, is another tool for the toughest situations. It's there to maintain an open airway in a casualty who's not awake or has severe facial trauma.
Hemostatic dressings are not your everyday gauze. They're designed to stop the loss of fluid faster and more effectively, which can be a lifesaver in the field.
But owning an IFAK isn't enough. You need to know how to use it. You need to train with it. So, get your hands on an IFAK, get trained on how to use it, and be ready to face whatever comes at you. It's about discipline. It's about owning your safety. It's about taking responsibility. You don't want to be caught in a situation where you wish you had one and trained on it. Get after it.

Have you heard of the OODA loop? We trained and learned the OODA loop extensively in the military, it's a powerful concept that civilians can apply to everyday life as well. The OODA loop stands for Observe, Orient, Decide, and Act. In the military, it's a framework for making rapid decisions in dynamic and unpredictable situations. But how can us civilians benefit from it? By utilizing the OODA loop, we can enhance our decision-making process, especially in high-pressure scenarios. First, we observe our surroundings, gathering information and identifying potential threats or opportunities. Then, we orient ourselves, analyzing the situation and understanding its context. Next, we decide on the best course of action based on our observations and analysis. Finally, we act swiftly and decisively, implementing our chosen plan. By applying the OODA loop, we can navigate daily challenges more effectively, make informed decisions, and adapt to changing circumstances. So, whether it's handling work projects, managing personal relationships, or staying safe in unfamiliar environments, the OODA loop can be a valuable tool for civilians to stay agile, proactive, and ahead of the game.

Self-defense is not just a physical pursuit but a comprehensive approach to personal safety, combining physical preparedness and mental fortitude. It starts with physical training to understand your strengths and limitations, enhancing your speed, flexibility, and endurance. However, mental agility is equally crucial, developing situational awareness and the ability to make rapid decisions under stress. Self-defense also emphasizes prevention and de-escalation, learning to identify potential threats and neutralize them before escalation. It's an ongoing journey of growth and adaptation, not only to fight but to live with greater confidence and peace of mind. This investment in personal safety, health, and well-being is paramount - your greatest weapon is your preparedness.

Whether you're a self-defense enthusiast, a survivalist, or simply someone who likes to be prepared, a well-stocked medical bag is an absolute must-have. It's a silent guardian that sits unobtrusively in the corner until the moment it's called to action. When things go south, as they sometimes do in life, a medical bag can mean the difference between life and death. It's not just about band-aids and antiseptic wipes - it's about providing critical first-aid care during those crucial moments before professional medical help arrives.
Your medical bag should include essential items like tourniquets for controlling severe loss of fluids, chest seals for treating sucking chest wounds, trauma dressings for wound packing, and emergency trauma bandages. But it's not enough to just have these items - you also need the knowledge to use them effectively. Thus, consider taking a basic first-aid course or a Stop The Bleed class. Equip your mind with knowledge and your bag with life-saving tools, and you'll be ready to face whatever comes your way.

Following up on Mobility-
Maintaining good mobility is crucial for injury prevention and effective rehabilitation. By focusing on mobility exercises and stretches, you can address muscle imbalances, improve joint stability, and enhance overall body mechanics. Good mobility reduces the risk of injuries and aids in recovery from injuries or surgeries.
Your joints are a huge part of your body's mobility. Healthy joints are vital for pain-free movement and longevity. Regular mobility exercises promote joint health by reducing stiffness, increasing synovial fluid circulation, and maintaining joint range of motion. Improved flexibility through mobility training helps prevent joint degeneration, enhances joint lubrication, and supports overall joint health.

I can’t stress it enough that physical mobility is essential for maintaining independence and autonomy. It allows us to perform daily activities, such as walking, climbing stairs, or carrying objects, with ease. When we have good physical mobility, we can engage in hobbies, travel, and enjoy a fulfilling lifestyle without limitations. It is the key to living life on our terms, with freedom and confidence. And it is especially in self defense. An enemy may be larger than you are, but if you are more mobile combined with a trained skill set, you can level the playing field.
:
Mobility is closely tied to physical performance and athletic abilities. Whether you're an athlete or a recreational fitness enthusiast, good mobility enables optimal movement patterns, range of motion, and flexibility. It improves athletic performance, prevents injuries, and allows you to excel in various sports or physical activities. I like to bust out simple body weight workouts such as squats and push-ups a couple times throughout my workout, and especially during the day.
I’ll l find myself knocking out a set of 25-50 before or after anything around my house.
Stay Lethal, and mobile!

Get your sunlight fix!! ☀️
Sunlight is like a natural vitamin D dispenser, and that's important because vitamin D does some amazing things for our bodies. It helps us absorb calcium, keeping our bones strong, and supports our immune system. So, by catching some rays, we're giving our bodies a natural boost of this vital nutrient.
Plus, Ive noticed a significant increase in my own self love since getting just 30 minutes a day in the sun.

I could speak for days on body armor, and I think I will. It is so important to know the different types of body armor out there available and what they protect from. First of all, there is no such thing as "bullet-proof" Because there is always going to be a bigger round to shoot. There is soft armor and hard armor. Here I'm wearing a Level 3+ body armor inside of a plate carrier. This body armor is hard to the touch, made of ceramic or steel. I only buy and use ceramic as steel plates tend to send "frag" up when the plate is hit with a round. So imagine taking a round to the chest, and the Round breaks up and all the metal fragments hits your throat, chin, and face. No thank you.
Body armor is important for self-defense because it provides enhanced protection and confidence, shielding vital areas and reducing the risk of injury. It going to allow an individual to face potentially life-threatening situations with a higher level of resilience. Considering the threat levels one may encounter is crucial when selecting body armor, as it offers varying levels of protection against firearms, blades, or blunt force impacts. This is where it's important to know the capabilities of hard vs soft armor and the different levels of each. Comfort and mobility are key factors, ensuring that body armor allows ease of movement during engagements. Concealability and versatility provide the advantage of surprise and the ability to blend into surroundings. Proper fit and sizing are vital for optimal performance, while durability and longevity ensure reliable protection over time. Understanding legal considerations and adhering to local regulations is essential. Overall, body armor is a critical component of self-defense, providing an extra layer of protection and peace of mind in potentially dangerous situations.
Overall, most people won't NEED body armor, for my work in the military and my current line of work, I need it every day. However, I believe body armor is the type of tool you would rather have and never use, than not have and wish you had it. Think of if shit hits the fan tomorrow, you're going to wish you had body armor. Especially level 4 plates that can protect against almost all rounds that civilians will have... except for a 50 cal ;)
Stay Lethal, and get some body armor.

Proper posture is the foundation of strength, resilience, and confidence in self-defense. It starts with a strong back. Strengthening your back muscles, not only helps you maintain an upright and aligned posture but also enables you to resist the impact of strikes and maintain stability during grappling exchanges. By incorporating targeted exercises like rows, pull-ups, and deadlifts into your training routine, you create a solid base that supports optimal posture and balance. You can see here I’m doing a high row, with my shoulders rolled forward then locked, and squeezing once my elbow pulls the weight all the way back.
With good posture, you can effectively distribute your weight, move with fluidity, and execute powerful strikes to defend yourself against any threat. Remember, don't neglect your back when training for self-defense; it's the key to maintaining a strong presence and delivering devastating blows. Plus who doesn’t love a good strong back.

In self-defense scenarios, understanding the use of force continuum is crucial for making effective decisions. The use of force continuum provides a framework for determining the appropriate level of force to be used in response to a threat. It ranges from verbal commands and empty-hand techniques to less-lethal options and lethal force. Assess the threat level and respond with the minimum amount of force necessary to neutralize the threat. Continuously reassess the situation and adjust your response accordingly. Remember, the goal of self-defense is to protect yourself and others while minimizing harm and complying with legal and ethical standards.
